That was some celebration dance when the score was still 10 to 1. I love this video because it reminds me of a very important truth.
"If we don’t celebrate the small victories, how do we keep ourselves inspired to keep moving forward towards the big ones?"
As you are growing a business there are bound to be setbacks, challenges and obstacles. Sometimes being so focused on what needs to be done or what's not going well can blind us to the many opportunities there are to celebrate small victories.
Instead of waiting until you have “won”...learn to celebrate when you are “winning”. Celebration creates a positive momentum that can keep you energized and enthusiastic about doing what it takes to grow your business.
To get you started...here are a few tips to make regularly celebrating progress (and not just completion) a part of your process.
1. Have people in your life that you can truly celebrate with.
Are there people that you can share the full details of even your small accomplishments with? I don’t just mean casual acquaintances and buddies. I mean someone that is familiar enough with who you are and what you are trying to accomplish that they can see your progress and growth right along side you.
If you are an entrepreneur, some of your victories will involve getting new clients, earning more money or learning something new. Having people in your life that you can talk to about even the more private details of your personal and professional life helps make celebrating accomplishments that much more significant and satisfying.
Share your successes with someone you trust. No matter how small the accomplishment...even if it is about money.
2. Genuinely Celebrate with Others.
How do you feel when you see someone achieving something that you want for your life?
This is a tough one. It is so easy to either slip into feeling jealous, inadequate or some other negative emotion. Although it is hard to do, I have learned that one way to ensure you are on the path to accomplishing what you want in your life is to celebrate it when you see it in the lives of others.
It seems counterintuitive, but what you resent you repel. Really work through any feelings of jealousy or inadequacy that come up for you when you observe the success of others. Doing so will put you more in touch with your own journey. Learn to admire what you want out of life, no matter where you see it.
3. Bite Sized Goals
Every big goal is accomplished in stages. If you want to succeed and enjoy the process you have to take that big goal and break it into smaller measurable steps. Create incremental goals to serve as checkpoints along the way.
This will ensure that you are moving in the right direction and help you to pace your progress accordingly. Learn to acknowledge yourself for work you are putting towards your goal and celebrate along the way . Everyone needs encouragement...use celebrating small goals as a way to give yourself something to look forward to!!
