In that moment...what will you do?
How we you approach the situation when you don’t know exactly what to do? We need a way to approach the unknown, because there will be so many areas in business growth that will feel shrouded in uncertainty.
When you are not sure what to do...
1. Develop a healthy perspective. Remember that you have been at a place of uncertainty in the past. Undoubtedly, there have been times when you did not know what to do or how to proceed…but somehow, some way…you stretched yourself and arrived at a solution. Trust that process. That is the process of growth. Just like you overcame uncertainty in the past, you will do it again with this new challenge and with every other challenge that comes your way. Trust that! Know that you can.
2. Take stock of your resources, your supports, your knowledge base, your strengths. What do you already have in place that can help you to navigate this situation? Who do you know that can be a resource in solving this challenge? Where can you go to get additional information? Instead of focusing on what you don’t know and what you don’t have…set your eyes upon what is already present. The progress you have already made. Start where you are, with what you have and know that you are on your way.
3. Take action. Don’t let not knowing exactly what to do paralyze you. Sometimes solutions arise when we create momentum by moving forward. Even if the steps you take in moving forward are small at first…do something. Find someone that knows and ask for help. Model your actions after someone that you have seen successfully navigate a similar situation. Allow yourself to be inspired by the success of others.
4. Be unstoppable. If you commit to finding a solution, you will. Being unstoppable means just that…not stopping until you accomplish what you have set out to do. Just because you don’t understand something now doesn’t mean you never will. You will grow your capacity and learn how to do things you have never done before…and each time you do, you will become more confident in your ability to do it again.
It all starts the moment you decide to “Choose More” and take action to move yourself in the direction of your goals. Approach the unknown with confidence and know that all the solutions you need are right there. It just requires you to reach a little further.
